Regional native-plant sources
Find Native-Plant Nurseries by Region
Explore nurseries according to the ecoregions, habitats, and geographic areas they describe in their own published information.
Regional specializations are recorded using the nursery's own wording. A nursery's stated focus is not an independent guarantee that every plant it sells is suitable for every location in that region.

Browse by Ecoregion and Habitat
Regional groupings are created from specializations that nurseries explicitly publish. No nursery is assigned to a region based only on its location.
Regional nursery listings are being verified
Regional groupings will appear as nursery-published specialization information is collected and checked. No unverified regional assignments are displayed.

Why Look Beyond State Boundaries?
State boundaries do not always describe the ecological areas that matter when selecting native plants. Ecoregions and habitats provide another way to think about regional plant sources.
A nursery may describe its specialization geographically or through the habitats and plant communities it focuses on.
This directory preserves those descriptions instead of replacing them with generalized geographic assignments.
What we record
- Nursery-published ecoregion specializations.
- Habitat descriptions in the nursery's own words.
- Published native-plant focus.
- Base location and explicitly stated service areas.
- Original source URL and checked date.

Regional Focus and Plant Provenance Are Different
A nursery specializing in a particular region does not necessarily source every plant from that region.
Provenance refers to the geographic origin of the seed or other propagation material. It can be an important consideration when selecting plants for locally focused projects.
Ask the nursery about collection locations, propagation sources, and any provenance information it publishes.
Questions to ask a nursery
- Which geographic areas do you specialize in?
- Which habitats or ecoregions do you focus on?
- Where does your propagation material originate?
- Do you distinguish local ecotypes from other sources?
- Can you provide additional provenance information?

Choosing Native Plants for Your Project
Plant selection involves more than matching a plant name to a geographic area. Consider the specific growing site, habitat, provenance, and the information supplied by the nursery.
Our guide explains plant formats, provenance, ecotypes, and useful questions to ask before purchasing.
